David Cameron (born January 21, 1933 in London , England , as Antonio Palastanga , † August 7, 2012 in Vienna ) was a British actor and director .

As an actor, he worked in films alongside Elizabeth Taylor and Montgomery Clift .

Life

Cameron was of Greek-Italian origin on his father's side and Scottish on his mother's side.

During his marriage to his colleague Hildegard Knef , he also appeared as a director, for example with Mrs. Dally by William Hanley in 1965. In addition, he worked from 1967 to 1975 as a record producer for his wife. He received the Schlegel-Tieck Prize in 1971 for the translation of her autobiography The Gift Gaul into English. In 1975 he translated her book The Judgment into English. In 1987, Cameron published his own autobiography, Falling On My Feet .

Cameron has been married four times.

  • from 1954 to 1962 with the Australian actress Shirley Cameron ,
  • from 1962 to 1976 with Hildegard Knef. From this marriage went daughter Christina Antonia Palastanga, married. Gardiner (born May 16, 1968, called "Tinta").
  • from 1977 to 1982 with Dorothea "Pumpi" Countess Lamberg . Daughter Anna (* 1979) emerged from this marriage.
  • from 1986 to 1990 with the nurse Gerlinde Bernhard, from whom son Christopher (* 1986) emerged. Gerlinde Bernhard died in 1990 of a virus infection.

Since 2000 he was in a relationship with the actress Melinda May . David Cameron lived and worked in Vienna for many years, where he died on August 7, 2012.
