Blankey Jet City was a Japanese rock band that existed from 1990 to 2000. They are counted among the leading Japanese rock bands of the 1990s.

history

In 1990 the band was formed by singer and guitarist Ken'ichi Asai ( 浅井 健 一 , born December 29, 1964), bassist Toshiyuki Terui ( 照 井 利 幸 ; born February 28, 1964) and drummer Nakamura Tatsuya ( 中 村 達 也 ; born January 4, 1965) founded in Tokyo Prefecture . The three attracted attention in the same year with an appearance on a Japanese talent show and shortly afterwards signed their first record deal with Toshiba EMI . Universal's albums were distributed worldwide . In 2000 the band split up because Kenichi Asai wanted to consolidate his own solo career.
