Blasco Francisco Collaço (born May 16, 1931 in Raia ) is a former diplomat of the Holy See .

Life

Blasco Francisco Collaço was ordained a priest on May 2, 1954 and was incardinated in the clergy of the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman . Pope Paul VI appointed him on September 23, 1977 titular Archbishop of Octava and Apostolic Nuncio in Panama .

The episcopal ordination received his Cardinal Secretary of State Jean-Marie Villot on 5 November of the same year; Co-consecrators were the Curia Archbishops Agostino Casaroli and Duraisamy Simon Lourdusamy .

Pope John Paul II appointed him on July 26, 1982 Apostolic Nuncio in the Dominican Republic . On February 28, 1991, John Paul II appointed him Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in Madagascar and Mauritius, and also on May 14, 1994 as Apostolic Nuncio in the Seychelles . Appointed Apostolic Nuncio in South Africa and Namibia on May 24, 2000 as well as Apostolic Delegate in Botswana and additionally on June 24, 2000 as Apostolic Nuncio in Lesotho and Swaziland.

Pope Benedict XVI accepted his resignation due to reasons of age in August 2006.
