content

The parents and stepsister of the teenager Mahiro Fuwa ( 不 破 真 広 ) were killed under strange circumstances. A year later, Mahiro himself disappears. His friend Yoshino Takigawa ( 滝 川 吉野 ), who was secretly in love with Mahiro's sister Aika Fuwa ( 不 破 愛 花 ), is initially looking for him in vain. Eventually Mahiro Yoshino reappears. Mahiro contacted the magician Hakaze Kusaribe ( 鎖 部 葉風 ) through a carving he found . The two boys are supposed to help her in the fight against her clan, which has rejected her. The Kusaribe guard the "tree of creation", but Samon Kusaribe has taken Hakazes position as leader and now wants to recreate the "tree of the end", which could lead to the end of the world. The magic of the clan comes from the power of the "tree of the beginning". For its magic, products of civilization always have to be sacrificed. Although Mahiro is not interested in this mystical conflict, Hakaze wants to help him in return to get revenge on the murderers of his family. So both young people go into the trade. The summoning of the tree of the end leads to the awakening of the fruits of the tree across the land. Each of these events faints the surrounding area, wreaks great destruction, and dies. So the government is about to stop the clan.

Mahiro and Yoshino are sent to join Junichiro, one of Hakaze's last allies in the clan. They receive magic utensils from him, with which they too can practice magic. Junichiro also tells them that Hakaze is said to be dead. He identified her skeleton, which Samon showed him. Without being sure of the truth, they travel to Mount Fuji, where the tree is conjured up. During the trip, Mahiro thinks about his half-sister and whether he might be secretly in love with her. Yoshino wonders if he can keep his relationship with Aika a secret from him forever. Arriving at the mountain they see how the army is already attacking the place of the summoning to stop the Kusaribe clan. The two boys penetrate the spell with powerful magic utensils with which they can end the conjuration and face Samon. He explains to them that the tree of the beginning actually threatens humanity. For when he awakens he will perfect it, sacrificing all human civilization in the process. Therefore Samon wants to wake the tree of the end with the clan, which is supposed to put the tree of the beginning back to sleep. But this plan is controversial in the Klan - Hakaze's faction does not fear the tree of the beginning as much as that of the end.

Mahiro, who holds the crucial magic utensil in his hands, is not interested in the fate of the world, but only in his revenge. So Samon and Hakaze fight for his favor, both promising to help him with revenge, while the army fights against the clan. Samon succeeds in proving that Hakaze is dead and has only communicated for 2 years and thus almost convinces Mahiro. But Yoshino, motivated by his love for Aika, still finds a way to bring Hakaze into her time and finally convinces Mahiro - also by promising him to betray Aika's boyfriend. It also becomes clear that she was killed by the conflict in the Kusaribe clan in order to make the two boys Hakazes helpers. Everyone can rule out that someone from the clan killed them, as the killing has serious consequences for servants of the tree of the beginning. You therefore suspect a "magician of the end". At the same time, the army is defeated by the Kusaribe clan, but their accelerated summoning also awakens the tree of the beginning.

Finally, Hakaze manages to teleport to Samon, Yoshino and Mahiro through a missile that has crashed on the island, which she can use as a victim. But at the same time the battle between the two trees gets out of hand: The tree of the beginning appears in many parts of the world and devours the products of civilization and people in order to strengthen its power. Together with the clan and Hakazes support, both trees can be stopped. But Mahiro and Yoshino are seriously injured. A month later they both woke up from their coma and are exploring a completely changed world. The appearance of the tree has overturned the world order, but at the same time the tree has put an end to all armed conflicts, so that there is now an uncanny peace. While Yoshino travels with Hakaze, Mahiro is introduced to Takumi Hayakawa: a politician who has been involved with magic for a long time, but was unable to achieve anything in the face of the disaster and has now been demoted. Together with the Kusaribe clan, he now wants to prevent worse. To do this, they instruct Mahiro to kill Yoshino because Hakaze has fallen in love with him and he now has too much influence over her. They also secretly fear that Yoshino is the magician of the end. For this they want to help Mahiro in his revenge, so that he finally agrees. At the same time, Hakaze and Mahiro meet Megumu Hanemura, who has the powers of the magician of the end. But he doesn't know anything about its background and surprisingly has no fighting spirit.
