Blau-Weiss Wittorf Neumünster
Blau-Weiss Wittorf Neumünster , BW Wittorf for short , is a sports club from Neumünster in Schleswig-Holstein .
history
The club was founded in 1912 as the men's gymnastics club MTV Wittorf . In 1913 a boys' and a women's department was opened, and in 1914 the soccer team registered with the North German Football Association. At the same time as MTV Wittorf, the Wittorf Free Gymnastics Association was launched in 1912 . After the First World War, on March 18, 1919, MTV became the Wittorf gymnastics and sports club. In 1921 a youth soccer team was set up. In 1922 the TSV merged with the football club SV Nordstern Neumünster from 1920. However, this alliance lasted only one year. The TSV had local competition in the AFC Vorwärts Wittorf and the Free Gymnastics and Sports Association Vorwärts Wittorf. In 1924 handball was started in the club. In 1933, the workers' sports clubs were banned, which brought the TSV an influx of them. With the beginning of the Second World War, the sporting activities, which were only resumed in 1946, football and handball first, in the TSV ceased. Efforts to integrate the designation Vorwärts into the club name ended in the renaming in Blau-Weiss Wittorf Neumünster . A table tennis department was established in 1954 and a badminton department in 1975, while gymnastics was completely discontinued in 1952 and only revived in 1961. In the 1980s, further new departments were established (volleyball, basketball, gymnastics, athletics, tennis). In 1987 the association had over 1100 members. In 1991 the volleyball department became a founding member of VC Neumünster and handball has formed a syndicate with FT Neumünster as SG WIFT Neumünster since 1992. In 1995 the UHUs and in 2004 baseball were integrated into the club. In 2006 a cooperation agreement was signed with TSV Gadeland and in 2012 the club celebrated its 100th anniversary.
