Bluebeard's room
Bluebeard's Room (originally The Bloody Chamber and other stories ) is a collection of fairy tales for adults by the British writer Angela Carter (1940-1992), which she published in 1979. The book was published in German in a translation by Sybil Gräfin Schönfeldt in 1982 by Rowohlt Verlag as Bluebeard's Room with the subtitle Märchen aus der Zwischenwelt ; the 1985 paperback edition was subtitled Fairy Tales for Adults .
Classic fairy tales served as models, which Carter alienated and to which she gave sexual accents. This work was preceded by the collection of essays The Sadeian Woman and the Ideology of Pornography (1978).
