The blue lobster ( Panulirus inflatus ) is a species from the lobster family .
The maximum body length of this lobster species is 38 centimeters. However, most representatives of this species have an average body length of 30 centimeters. The species is distributed in the East Pacific and occurs from the west coast of the Mexican Baja California to Puerto Ángel . Their distribution therefore partially overlaps with that of the California lobster . Within this region, the blue lobster is one of the commercially significant lobsters. It is caught by hand and with gillnets and marketed fresh or frozen.
