Bleed the Dream is an American alternative rock band from Los Angeles , California .

Band history

Shortly after Keith Thompson and Brandon Thomas moved from Baltimore to Los Angeles, the two teamed up with Dave Aguilera and Scott Gottlieb and founded Bleed the Dream in the spring of 2003. In the beginning, they spent most of their time traveling from one small gig to the next. Their first EP Awake was released on March 30, 2004 by Noize Pollution, shortly afterwards they founded their own label Maphia Records , on which they released another EP - Asleep - and the live DVD No Apologies produced by Gottlieb .

Performances on the Warped Tour in 2003 and 2004 eventually brought them notoriety and the attention of promoter Kevin Lyman, who got them a record deal with his new label Warcon Enterprises.

During a tour with Matchbook Romance in the spring of 2004, Scott Gottlieb was diagnosed with leukemia . The other appearances, including at the rock festival Taste of Chaos 2005 and the entire Warped tour, were completed with the help of a replacement drummer. In the meantime, the band was also working on the recordings for their first album, for which Gottlieb still played the drums despite numerous hospital stays. He passed away on April 10, 2005, two weeks before Built by Blood was released.

A new drummer was found in Tom Breyfogle, who went on tours with Bleed the Dream through the USA, Europe , Australia and Japan , where the band performed with Hawthorne Heights , Story of the Year and Funeral for a Friend , among others .

In May 2006 singer Brandon Thomas left the band due to personal and creative differences, a few months later a replacement was found in Mark Holmes. With him came the next album A Killer Inside , which was released in April 2007.

On September 24, 2007 Keith Thompson announced the breakup of the band on Bleed the Dream's Myspace website. A few months later, on May 13th, 2008, Dave Aguilera announced that he, Keith and Brandon were back together and working on new material.
