Movie poster

Blender is a full-length, autobiographically motivated documentary film by the director and author Susann Reck . It was created over a period of seven years (between 2007 and 2014). The documentary tells of a home for the mentally ill, "Blender", on a mountain of the same name in the Allgäu , which Susann S. Reck's parents founded and in which she grew up for a time.

content

While the staff of the facility remains largely in the background - in the film neither doctors nor nurses or nurses have their say - the six protagonists tell about themselves and their mental disorders and conditions directly and undisguised. They are aware of their respective situation and always act out of their own internal logic.

The film Blender is an ensemble film whose episodes revolve around the coming and going of the residents. The episodes are introduced in a light, almost serene way and condense into sadness and drama as the film progresses. Blender is not primarily about being crazy or different. He tells neither successful healing stories nor specific therapy concepts. In front of an impressive natural backdrop, diverse forms of human existence unfold, looking for a lonely path through life.

publication

Blender premiered in October 2015 during the Mental Health Action Week in Berlin. In the same month it had its Austrian premiere at the 'Arthouse Film Days' exceptional state' in Innsbruck.
