geography

Today the Rheinhausen Rheinhafen , the Logport I industrial area and the Bliersheim civil servants' housing estate are located in the area of the former municipality of Bliersheim . Since the renovated villas in the Bliersheim civil servants' settlement are not allowed to be used for residential purposes, the district is uninhabited today and is used exclusively for commercial purposes. Today the area belongs to the Duisburg district of Friemersheim , which in turn belongs to the Rheinhausen district. The former municipality of Bliersheim had an area of 2.72 km².

history

The village of Bliersheim formed a rural community in the mayor's office of Friemersheim since the 19th century . This belonged to the Krefeld district until 1857 and since then to the Moers district. In 1897 the Krupp Group's Rheinhausen ironworks in Bliersheim was put into operation. In the following years, the entire municipality of Bliersheim was built over by the ever expanding plant; The only residential buildings that remained were the villas of the civil servants' settlement built between 1903 and 1910 in the middle of the factory premises.

On July 1, 1920, Bliersheim was incorporated into the municipality of Friemersheim. The thus enlarged municipality of Friemersheim in turn merged with the municipality of Hochemmerich to form the new municipality of Rheinhausen in 1923 . Rheinhausen, which was elevated to a city in 1934, became part of the city of Duisburg in 1975.

The smelter was closed in 1993. On its premises a center for logistics company under the name since emerged Logport I .
