Blohm & Voss BV 237

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Blohm & Voss BV 237 was a planned German Sturzkampf- and attack aircraft of the company Blohm & Voss .

It was developed in 1944 on the basis of the asymmetrical Blohm & Voss BV 141 aircraft . This arrangement offered considerable advantages in terms of armament, for example cantilever bombs without deflectors, such as those found on the Junkers Ju 87 , could be dropped in a dive. The structure of the aircraft corresponded entirely to BV 141. The cabin nacelle was, however, far less glazed and equipped with various firearms. A BMW 801 radial engine with 1,700 hp was also used as the engine. An optional gunner could be placed behind the pilot in an enlarged cabin.

Due to the war situation in 1944, the project was dropped in favor of fighter planes .
