Blow Forward (English for pre-pressure loader ) is a functional principle of automatic firearms . This is the opposite principle to the back pressure loader , which is much more widespread. Both are gas pressure chargers ; both have a ground seal .

While the barrel is fixed in a back pressure loader and the breech is pushed backwards by the spreading combustion gases of the propellant charge , in weapons that work according to the blow-forward principle, the barrel is movably mounted and the breech or the support plate is fixed. After the shot has been fired, the projectile moving through the barrel and the combustion gases of the propellant charge push the barrel forward and thereby separate barrel from breech. This enables the automatic loading process. In most weapons that work according to this principle, the barrel and the associated main spring are the only parts moved by the firing energy , which makes the structure of the mechanism much simpler compared to the usual recoil loaders .

Historically, the blow-forward principle has only been used to a very limited extent. There are only a few known firearms that work according to this principle:

Remarks

  1. blow forward literally translated means to blow forward . Actually blow forward is an abbreviation of blow-forward action / operation . The opposite principle of blow-back action / operation is translated as a back pressure loader . According to this system, Vordrucklader would be the translation of blow-forward action / operation .
