Lists on the subject |
The Howa Type 96 is a machine grenade launcher that has been produced by Hōwa Kōgyō for the Japanese ground self-defense forces since 1996 . The weapon is intended as a supplement to the Sumitomo NTK-62 and Sumitomo M2 . It is used as the main weapon of the Type 96 transport tank, but can also be used by infantry from a tripod . An ammunition box with 50 grenades is mounted on the left side of the weapon, which are fed to the weapon via an ammunition belt. Similar to the American Mk-20 machine grenade launcher , the automatic grenade launcher works according to the blow-forward principle, which is otherwise rarely used in firearms .
