Blu-ray Disc Association

Blu-ray Disc Association ( BDA for short ) is an amalgamation of companies that develop and market the Blu-ray Disc storage medium .

history

In February 2002, nine leading electronics companies, namely Matsushita, Pioneer, Philips, Thomson, LG Electronics, Hitachi, Sharp, Samsung and Sony formed the Blu-ray Disc Founders . At a later date the association was renamed the Blu-ray Disc Association . They formed the counterpart to the DVD Forum that decided to develop the HD DVD .

In 2003 and early 2004, four other companies joined the nine founders: Mitsubishi Electric, Dell, HP and TDK.

In order to get even more members and supporters, the Blu-ray Association was finally founded in 2004 , which today has over 250 members.
