The Blue Glacier ( English for Blue Glacier ) is a large, 30 km long and 3 to 6 km wide glacier on the Scott coast of East Antarctica Victoria Land . It flows into the Bowers-Piedmont Glacier around 16 km south of the New Harbor .
It was discovered by participants in the Discovery Expedition (1901-1904) under the direction of the British polar explorer Robert Falcon Scott , who named it after its blue color at the time of discovery.
