The Blue Wing Airlines (BWA) is an in Suriname -based private airline . The home base of their small fleet is the Zorg en Hoop airfield in Paramaribo . The airline's administration is also located here on Doekhieweg, in the Zorg en Hoop district of the same name.
In January 2002 the BWA started its entrepreneurial activity. Since then, it has been operating mainly domestic scheduled and charter flights.
From June 2006 to November 2007 the airline was blacklisted by the EU due to safety deficiencies . In July 2010 and most recently in June 2016 Blue Wing Airlines was added to this list again.
Route network
In addition to domestic passenger and cargo flights, the BWA also operates a scheduled service to Guyana . The flights on the Paramaribo – Georgetown – Paramaribo route operate three times a week.

Accidents
On April 3, 2008, one of the five BWA Antonovs crashed near Benzdorp near the French Guiana border . All 19 occupants including the pilot Soeriani Jhauw-Verkuyl (36) and the copilot Robert Lackin (23) were killed. The pilot was the wife of Amichand Jhauw, the airline's director. At the time of the accident, her brother, also a BWA pilot, was also standing with an Antonov on the Lawa Antino airstrip near Benzdorp.
The heavily charred corpses were transferred to Paramaribo on the day of the crash. A group of six experts from the Netherlands flew to Suriname on April 4 to support the Surinamese authorities in identifying the bodies and in investigating the crash.
On May 15, 2010, another BWA Antonov An-28 crashed, killing all eight occupants, including the pilot Peter Veldkamp and the copilot Nerina Latchmansing. The accident occurred about 10 minutes after the start in Godo Olo, on the way to Paramaribo near the village of Poeketie (also: Puketi) in the Sipaliwini district , on the Tapanahony .
