bluesign is a sustainability standard for the production of textiles that takes into account aspects of chemical safety in particular and at the same time is a textile seal . The carrier of the standard is bluesign technologies ag , a stock corporation based in Switzerland .

The core of bluesign is the standard, which covers the entire manufacturing process of textile products and sets comparatively strict criteria with regard to the chemicals used . In contrast to other standards such as the Oeko-Tex 100 , which only record problematic residues in the end product, bluesign involves the chemical companies supplying them and the textile industry in order to avoid dangerous chemicals during the manufacturing process.

Clothing that has been manufactured according to the standard can be provided with a sewn-in seal or otherwise indicate the application of the bluesign standard.

The standard goes back to an initiative from 1997, and the AG was founded in 2000. It is mainly used in Europe, North America and Asia. Brands that use or have used the standard at least in part include: a. adidas , asics , Brooks , Deuter , Edelrid , Gore, Jack Wolfskin , Mammut , Marmot , Nike , Patagonia and vaude .
