Boardman is a census-designated place (CDP) in Boardman Township in Mahoning County , Ohio , United States south of Youngstown . The village belongs to the Youngstown - Warren -Boardman Metropolitan Statistical Area . In 2000, Boardman had 37,215 residents.
The place was named after Elijah Boardman of the Connecticut Land Company.

At the time of the United States Census 2000, Boardman inhabited 37,215 people. The population density was 902.0 people per km ². There were 16,801 housing units at an average of 407.2 per km². The Boardman population was 95.25% White , 2.56% Black or African American , 0.09% Native American , 0.81% Asian , 0.02% Pacific Islander , 0.42% said other races belong to and 0.85% mentioned two or more races. 1.80% of the population declared to be Hispanic or Latinos of any race.
