Bob Allan Bailey (born May 29, 1931 in Kenora , Ontario ; † October 24, 2003 ) was a Canadian ice hockey player who played for the Toronto Maple Leafs , Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks in the 1949 to 1968 National Hockey League has played. His older brother John was also a professional ice hockey player.
Career
Bob Bailey began his career as a hockey player in the Canadian Junior League Ontario Hockey Association , where he was active from 1949 to 1952 for the Windspor Spitfires and Stratford Kroehlers. After he made his professional ice hockey debut for the Toledo Mercurys from the International Hockey League towards the end of the 1951/52 season , he played for the entire following season for the Cleveland Barons in the American Hockey League, with whom he won the Calder Cup for the first time , before he was sold to the Toronto Maple Leafs in the summer of 1953 , for which the attacker scored eleven points, including two goals, in 53 games in his rookie year in the National Hockey League . During his three years in Toronto he played parallel for their farm team from the AHL, the Pittsburgh Hornets , with whom he again won the Calder Cup in the 1954/55 season. The 1956/57 season began the right-shooter with the Springfield Indians from the AHL, before running up to 1958 for the Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks in the NHL.
From 1958 to 1962, Bailey played in the American Hockey League for the Cleveland Barons , Buffalo Bisons , Quebec Aces and his ex-club Pittsburgh Hornets. He also ran in the 1961/62 season for the San Francisco Seals in the Western Hockey League , for which he also played the following year. From 1962 to 1964 the Canadian was meanwhile under contract with the Philadelphia Ramblers from the Eastern Hockey League . The former NHL player ended his career in the International Hockey League, where he played for the Fort Wayne Komets and Dayton Gems until 1968 . On March 17, 1970, he was inducted into the Dayton Hockey Hall of Fame .
