Robert Lester Beemer (* 14. May 1963 in Jackson , Michigan ) is a former American American football players and coaches. He played one season on the defensive end position for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League (NFL).
college
After Beemer was voted All-State Player at Concord High School in 1980 and 1981 , he was recruited into college football . Beemer played college football at the University of Toledo for the Toledo Rockets from 1982 to 1985 . There he was able to set 270 tackles , 73 of them for loss of space, the most in the team's history. As a sophomore, he started in all eleven games, achieving 96 tackles, 13 of them for loss of space. He also forced two fumble and captured three. During his junior season, however, he missed some playing time due to injury. Nevertheless, he managed 14 tackles for loss of space, for which he was elected to the second team All-MAC . As a senior, he scored 15 tackles for loss of space. For this he was elected to the first-team All- MAC for the first time . He also achieved the school record for most sacks in one season (13). In 2010 Beemer was inducted into the University of Toledo Hall of Fame .
NFL
For the 1987 season , the Detroit Lions signed Beemers. He was used in two games. He was part of the players who, as a so-called replacement player, replaced the regular players from the 4th to the 6th game day during the player strikes. In February 1988, however, he was re-enlisted as a free agent by the Lions. On August 11, 1988, he was released by the Lions.
Coaching career
From 1990 to 1993 and 1997 to 2004 Beemer was the head coach of the Evergreen High School football team.
