Bob Birrell
Bob Birrell (actually Joseph Robert Birrell; born March 6, 1938 in Barrow-in-Furness ) is a former British hurdler who specialized in the 110-meter distance .
In 1958 he reached the semifinals for England starting at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Cardiff over 120 yard hurdles.
At the Olympic Games in Rome in 1960 , he reached the quarter-finals over 110 m hurdles.
In 1962 he retired from the European Athletics Championships in Belgrade over 110 m hurdles in the semifinals. At the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Perth , he finished sixth over the 120 yard hurdles.
He set his personal best of 14.2 s on September 6, 1961 in Warsaw .
His older brother Joe Birrell was also successful as a hurdler.
