Bob McCoy
Robert "Bob" McCoy (* approx. 1929; † March 5, 2011 ) was an American jazz trumpeter and music teacher.
McCoy studied at the University of West Virginia , where he later worked as an adjunct professor . He worked for NBC television as a member of the studio orchestra on The Tonight Show , Late Night with David Letterman (1987) and Late Night with Conan O'Brien (1998); he was also lead trumpeter with Maynard Ferguson , Woody Herman and His Orchestra and Mel Lewis . He also worked as an endorser for Yamaha and developed a number of trumpet mouthpieces. In the field of jazz he was involved in 13 recording sessions between 1964 and 2001. a. with Johnny Richards ( My Fair Lady - My Way , 1964), Ray Starling , Doc Severinsen ( The Great Arrival , 1967), Claus Ogerman , Marlene VerPlanck , Tony Mottola , Urbie Green ( Big Beautiful Band , 1974), Gato Barbieri ( Chapter Three : "Viva Emiliano Zapata", 1974), The Manhattan Transfer and Roy Roman. McCoy also appeared on the film soundtracks for Sesame Street and The Wiz .
