Robert J. "Bobby" Campbell (born April 23, 1937 in Liverpool , † November 6, 2015 ) was an English football player and coach .

Career

Player career

Campbell began his career at Liverpool FC , where he turned pro in 1958. After a few good games in the Reds' dress, he was even called up for the English youth team . After 24 games in Liverpool, he moved to Portsmouth FC , where he worked from 1961 to 1966. His last player station before the end of his career was FC Aldershot , with whom he stayed for a year.

Coaching career

After his playing career, he had various coaching jobs as assistant coach, for example at Portsmouth FC, Queens Park Rangers , Arsenal FC and Sheffield Wednesday . Campbell's first job as head coach was at Fulham FC from 1976 to 1980. From 1982 to 1984 he was head coach at Portsmouth FC and from 1988 to 1991 coach at Chelsea FC , after having been assistant coach for the Blues for years. After his release in London Campbell trained a few clubs in the Middle East .
