Bobby Pirron (actually Robert Cuny de Pierron ) (born October 16, 1918 in Zurich ; † December 19, 2007 in Vienna ) was a singer , accordion player , emcee and lyricist .

Life

Pirron was the son of the Viennese song and operetta singer Carola Ruska, the father a member of the nobility whose house was ennobled by Emperor Charles V. He first attended a hotel management school, was a choirboy at a Vienna church and got to know Josef Gnapp (Josef Knapp) during his military service , with whom he founded the singing duo Pirron and Knapp . Their trademarks were "Schnellsprechlieder" and a "double chat with songs" in the sense of Wondra and Zwickl , which is how they became throughout Austriapopular. In their songs they took the joys and problems of the times out of Korn and these were quickly sung, based on the music of Peter DeRose and texts by Carl Sigmann.

In 1961, the duo separated after a dispute and ended their collaboration after 15 years. At the last meeting on the occasion of the award of the Austrian Golden Record , they did not even shake hands and did not speak a word to each other. Pirron then began a solo career while Gnapp worked as an insurance officer.

Pirron died in 2007 and was buried in the Baumgartner Friedhof (group E, number G14) in Vienna.

His son Harald "Harry" Cuny de Pierron (born February 5, 1947 in Vienna) is a keyboardist with Ostbahn-Kurti and the lead role under the pseudonym Mario Adretti , and has also played with Heli Deinboek since 1979 .
