He was the son of Viennese songs singer and operettas - Diva Carola Ruska , and a family member of the nobility, whose house in 1559 on behalf of Emperor Charles V was knighted. During his military service, Cuny de Pierron got to know the iron caster Josef Gnapp, with whom he formed the duo "Pirron and Knapp" in 1946. First he graduated from hotel management school , later he was an accordion player , emcee and lyricist. Most recently he lived in a retirement home in Vienna. Bobby Pirron died on December 19, 2007 in Vienna and was buried on January 4, 2008 in the Baumgartner Friedhof (group E, number G14). Josef Gnapp (pseudonym: Knapp ) was born on August 27, 1917 in Vienna , where he also died on February 12, 1999. His learned profession was an iron caster. Gnapp was buried in the Inzersdorfer Friedhof (group W5B, number 21).

Pirron and Knapp

The two met as early as 1937 during Pirron's military service. Encouraged by the emcee and artist mediator Max Lustig , the two formed the vocal duo Pirron and Knapp in 1946. The duo Wondra and Zwickl was a role model for both of them . The lyrics of their cabaret songs were sung quickly and took on the joys and problems of the time, such as bathing in the Tröpferlbad , camping holiday , the Goggomobil ("Das Fräulein Vera" text by Josef Gnapp. Original music by Peter DeRose and lyrics by Carl Sigman ), (Buonasera Signorina) Buona Sera (Good Night) , first released in 1950 by Mercury Records , sung by Louis Prima and Keely Smith & Chours, in 1958 also by Dean Martin , Adriano Celentano , and many others), or the washing machine (“Fifi ") .

The duo broke up in 1961. According to ORF - documentary on the death of Bobby Pirron from 2007 were disputes over royalties the cause of the separation. The ingenious copywriter and creative part of the duo, Josef Knapp, had promised his partner Bobby Pirron, who took care of advertising and sales, to give him a quarter of the royalties on all titles. But Knapp had neglected to report this to the production company for the last recorded music tracks. This was the reason for Pirron to end the collaboration after 15 years. While Knapp then worked as an insurance clerk, Pirron continued as a soloist . In 1984 the two met for the last time, on the occasion of the awarding of the Austrian Golden Record , where they neither spoke to one another nor shook hands.
