My ancestor was from Urfahr, an Austrian hit from the Singspiel Ein X für ein U from 1940, which became very popular, especially in the cover version Im Tröpferlbad by Pirron & Knapp from 1957. The music was composed by Hans Lang , the original text was written by Erich Meder . In 1948 Maria Andergast and Hans Lang recorded the song Aus Urfahr was my ancestor , which became a success. The interpretations of this song with the text Im Tröpferlbad and In der Straßenbahn are by Pirron and Knapp from 1957.

My ancestor was from Urfahr
From Urfahr was my ancestor consists of two stanzas and the refrain. In the version by Maria Andergast and Hans Lang you can hear dance orchestra accompaniment in the background. At the beginning the first stanza is sung, then the chorus, then the second stanza and again the chorus:

On the Donaubruckn there is a pair on it.

This version of Pirron & Knapp tells of the experiences of the Huber couple (the Huawa and the Huawarin ), who travel back to Vienna from a country trip in St. Valentin with the Federal Railway .

The song Aus Urfahr was my ancestor comes from the musical comedy Ein X für ein U by Hans Gustl Kernmayr , music: Hans Lang, lyrics: Erich Meder, which premiered in 1940 at the Wiener Kammerspiele . The song appeared on an Elite Special shellac record in 1948, interpreted by Maria Andergast and Hans Lang. It then developed in the version Im Tröpferlbad , and also In der Straßenbahn , by Pirron & Knapp to a great success. It appeared on various LPs and became an evergreen. From the Tröpferlbad there again cover versions, such as the duo Strobl & Sokal. The melody was also used for an advertisement for Blaschke coconut domes.
