Bobby Short
Robert Waltrip "Bobby" Short (born September 15, 1924 in New York City , † March 21, 2005 ibid) was an American singer and pianist .
Short was the ninth of ten children. As early as 1936 he appeared in New York nightclubs . Short was very popular in the 1950s. With the decline of nightclubs and the rise of the Beatles in the 1960s, interest in him fell, but he made a comeback in 1968. Since that year he has played regularly at the Carlyle Hotel in New York. Further appearances took him to the White House, among others . Short starred in the films Splash and Hannah and Her Sisters in the 1980s .
Short died of leukemia at the age of 80 .
