Richard "Dick" Sheridan (born January 26, 1936 in New York City ) is an American jazz and entertainment musician ( drums ).

Live and act

Sheridan learned drums from Charlie Perry while in high school . From 1954 he worked as a professional musician, initially in the big bands of David Carroll, Tony Pastor , Buddy Morrow , Tommy Alexander , Billy May , Gene Williams and Les Elgart . In 1958 he played in Las Vegas in the Johnny McCormick Quintet, the backing band for comedian Jerry Lester . On his return to New York, he toured with Tony Pastor; In 1959 he worked for Boyd Raeburn in the Bahamas . In the following years he played in New York and Las Vegas with Woody Herman, Barbara Carroll, Joe Marsala , Kai Winding , Nat Pierce , Sal Salvador , Tyree Glenn , Gene Roland , Bobby Sherwood , Dick Haymes , Gene Quill , Dan Terry and Bobby Short .

In the 1960s he was a member of the house band in various clubs such as The Blue Angel, Copacabana, Latin Quarter and The Persian Room in the Plaza Hotel. He accompanied guest stars such as Barbra Streisand , Della Reese , Jack Jones , Carol Sloane , Georgia Brown, Tom Jones and Oscar Brown Jr. From 1968 he had a long engagement with Bobby Short in the Carlyle Cafe in the Carlyle Hotel. He can be heard on recordings by Barbara Carroll ( Live! Her Piano and Trio , 1967), Mabel Mercer , Bobby Short, Dan Terry ( The Swinginest Dance Band: Dan Terry & His Orchestra 1952-1963 , Fresh Sound Records) and Ronny Whyte .
