The Bochumer Hütte ( 1432  m above sea level ), also called Kelchalm or Kelchalpe , is an Alpine Club hut of the Bochum section of the German Alpine Club , in the Kitzbühel Alps , Tyrol , Austria . The hut is managed and has sleeping facilities.

history

The hut was built in 1832 as accommodation for the miners of the copper mining industry. After mining ceased in 1926, the Kitzbühel Alpine Club section rented the house and inaugurated it in 1928 as an Alpine Club hut. In 1939 the club hut was acquired by the Magdeburg section of the German Alpine Club. After the Second World War, the Magdeburg section was expropriated and the Kitzbühel section took over the administration of the hut. On March 30, 1964, the Bochum Section took over the Alpine Club Hut and the Kelchalm was named "Bochumer Hut".

Prehistoric finds

At the end of the 19th century, the prehistorian Matthäus Much discovered traces of Bronze Age copper mining in the Kelchalpe area. In subsequent excavations in the 1930s to 1950s, further finds were found that are exhibited in the Kitzbühel City Museum .
