Bocicoel (Hungarian Kisbocskó ) is a village in Maramureș County ( Romania ).
location
Bocicoel is about 6 km south of the national road 18 (between Sighetu Marmației and Moisei ) on a connecting road between Vișeu de Jos and Bogdan Vodă. It is about 9 km to the center of Vișeu de Jos .
population
In the 1930 census, there were 1196 inhabitants. The inhabitants of Bocicoel are almost exclusively Romanians. In 1992, 1124 inhabitants were registered, one of whom was Ukrainian .
Attractions
The place itself has nothing special besides the church in the center. The interior of the church was extensively restored in 2004. The place is interesting for tourists due to its scenic location. The wide, very attractive cultural landscape around the place is characterized almost exclusively by small-scale handicraft to this day. The meadows are mown far up by hand with a scythe . Many fields are laid out in narrow terraces.
