Bodo Meier

Bodo Meier (* 1949 in Siegen ) is a German painter and teacher .

After attending school at a grammar school in Siegerland, where his art teacher there was the painter Willi Schütz , Meier studied English , American and art education from 1970 to 1974 . Another study of biology followed from 1988 to 1992 . From 1978 Bodo Meier himself worked as a teacher in the subjects of art, chemistry and biology at the Geschwister-Scholl-Schule , a secondary school in the Siegen district of Geisweid. He also worked as a lecturer for painting techniques at the adult education center (VHS) . The landscape and animal painter is an illustrator for the hunting magazine Wild und Hund . He also illustrated the bookWild Heart of Africa by Rolf D. Baldus and contributes to Wildlife Art Magazine . Meier himself, who has had both national and international exhibitions, published the third edition of the book Animals in Watercolor by Ravensburger Verlag in 1996 . In addition, the Wildleben calendar, first published in 1999, comes from his pen. In 2007 he was awarded an art prize by the International Council for Wildlife Conservation and Hunting (CIC). Meier also created the emblem of the Markhor Prize , which was designed to be awarded in 2008 for special achievements in the areas of biodiversity and species protection . In January 2012 his book Mal-Reise in die Serengeti , a painted travel description, was published by Christophorus-Verlag .

Bodo Meier, father of three adult children, lives in Bonn-Ippendorf. He has been working there as a freelance artist and illustrator since 2007.
