Body-Xtreme Invitational

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Body-Xtreme Invitational , or BXI for short, is a bodybuilding invitation competition in Germany. It takes place according to the rules of the DBFV eV (German Bodybuilding and Fitness Association), which represents the IFBB (International Bodybuilding Federation) in Germany. The best athletes from Europe take part, which is why the name Body-Xtreme Bodybuilding European Championship is sometimes used; Athletes from other continents can also participate by invitation.

Although it is a competition for amateurs, the Body-Xtreme Invitational is based in many respects on the professional competitions of the IFBB. So there are u. a. no weight classes, so only three classes are started: men bodybuilding, women bodybuilding and women fitness performance.

The Body-Xtreme Invitational takes place at the beginning of the autumn season in the Jahrhunderthalle in Frankfurt am Main (the event was still in Mainz in 2004) and, according to the organizers, is one of the largest bodybuilding competitions in Europe with its international starting field and around 1,300 spectators.

review

2004

In 2004 the BXI, as the competition is also abbreviated, took place for the first time. The venue at that time was the Rheingoldhalle in Mainz , after the Hessian Bodybuilding and Strength Sports Association ( HBBKV eV) had vetoed and the event was therefore not allowed to take place in Hesse.

At the beginning, the event concept called a lot of skeptics on the scene, who expressed their doubts that an event of this dimension was feasible and, above all, affordable in Germany.

Many athletes who actually demanded prize money competitions stayed away from the event and wanted to wait for the 2004 BXI, especially because it didn't seem certain from the start that the DBFV would approve the event.

Many exhibitors did not want to wait until 2004 before they decided to take part in the Body-Xtreme EXPO in the following years.

There were only a handful of exhibitors and only seven athletes in the men's class. Thomas Scheu won ahead of Eddie Derzapf and Christos Taranazis.

Despite all the skeptics, the first Body-Xtreme Invitational was a real success. A total of 1200 spectators found their way into the Rheingoldhalle. The organizers offered a total of three guest stars and two show events.

2005

In 2005 the BXI moved to the Jahrhunderthalle Frankfurt. At that time, the HBBKV tried to prevent the event with legal support, but failed.

This year can be described as a breakthrough for the Body-Xtreme EXPO, as a total of 18 exhibitors came to the Jahrhunderthalle.

This year the organizers were able to draw on the German bodybuilding elite and so the Body-Xtreme Invitational 2005 offered an interesting three-way battle for victory between Tarek El Setouhi, Thomas Scheu and Werner Zenk, who had won the World Games that year before . The athletes then placed in the order mentioned.

2006

If 2005 can be described as a breakthrough for the Body-Xtreme EXPO, 2006 can be described as a breakthrough for the bodybuilding competition, because the field was so international and top-class that the event aroused great interest in advance. There were participants from France, Belgium, Sweden, Poland, Austria and of course Germany at the start. The foreign athletes started in Germany for the first time, which made the competition interesting for both spectators and athletes.

2007

The Body-Xtreme 2007 took place on the day of German unity . For the first time, the athletes were allowed to dress up. The competition increasingly turned into a show spectacle, in which the organizer tried to manage the balancing act between modern show events and traditional sports competitions.

2008

On October 4th, 2008 the 5th BXI took place in the Jahrhunderthalle Frankfurt.

The guest stars were: IFBB professionals Ronny Rockel, Clarence Devis and Markus Becht, IFBB Figure Kamila Porczyk.

There was also a Strongman Challenge for the first time , which turned the Body-Xtreme Invitational into a comprehensive strength sports spectacle. The German master in powerlifting , “Dr. Bein “Andy Dörner bent 405 kg.
