The Boesch motorboats AG is an established in 1920 the Swiss manufacturer of wooden motor boats based in Kilchberg ZH .

history

Boesch Motorboote AG 1950

In 1920 the boat builder Jakob Boesch took over the Treichler & Co. shipyard in Kilchberg on Lake Zurich , where sailing , motor and rowing boats were built, overhauled or repaired. As a result, the company changed its name to Boesch & Co. From 1940, due to the war, Boesch concentrated on the construction of sailing and rowing boats such as Star boats , small racing yachts with hard chine hulls that were custom-made.

In 1952 Walter Boesch, the son of Jakob Boesch, developed the first series model for a fast motorboat with the Type 500. Series production began in 1954; the production of sailing boats was stopped in 1956. Until the end of the 1950s there was a range of types with the models B500, B560 and B640.

In the early 1970s, wooden boats increasingly became a niche product. Boesch's boats were then built larger and more luxurious. As a result, Boesch's first coastal boat, the 720 day cruiser, came onto the market in 1975. The drive was optimized with a bulge rudder and new coating materials were introduced with epoxy resin . In 1971 the third generation joined the company with the sons Klaus and Urs Boesch and the production facilities were relocated to a new building in Sihlbrugg .

From 1980 Boesch produced classic and sporty mahogany boats such as the Type 850, which was available as a runabout and as a coastal cruiser from 1988 and which, powered by a V8 engine, reached up to 40 knots.

On June 25, 1999, Boesch Motorboote AG was entered in the commercial register. In 2000, Markus Boesch, Klaus Boesch's son, joined the company as the fourth generation. In 2005 he was accepted into the management.
