Bogdan Frankiewicz

Bogdan Frankiewicz (born August 3, 1923 in Kostrzyn Wielkopolski ( Kostschin ) in Poland , † July 2, 2003 ) was a Polish archivist and historian . He was the head of the German department of Archiwum Państwowe w Szczecinie ( State Archives Stettin ).

Life

Frankiewicz was born in Kostrzyn Wielkopolski ( Kostschin ) in Poland in 1923 . After the Second World War he studied philology and history at the University of Poznan . He completed his studies with a doctorate.

He took up the job of archivist . In 1953 he went to Stettin to the Archiwum Państwowe w Szczecinie ( State Archives Szczecin ). There he became head of the German department of the State Archives and remained so until he retired at the age of 70. The archive has extensive holdings from the German history of Hinterpommern, which dates back to 1945 . Frankiewicz published in Polish and German on archival science and history, in particular on the history of Pomerania .
