Bogdan Jerzy Lis (born November 10, 1952 in Gdansk ) is a Polish politician , 1989–1991 senator in the 1st electoral term and 2007–2011 member of the Sejm in the VI . Electoral term.

In 1969 he finished the part-time mechanic school. From 1970 to 1971 he worked as a mechanic in the administration of the Gdańsk port . He took part in the December 1970 riots and was imprisoned from 1971 to 1972. After 1972 he worked in the electrical and automation systems for naval ships " Elmor " as an adjuster for machine tools. From 1975 to 1981 he belonged to the Polska Zjednoczona Partia Robotnicza (Polish United Workers' Party - PZPR) and worked in the Związek Młodzieży Socjalistycznej (Socialist Youth Association) and in the trade union .

After 1978 he worked with the founding committee of Wolne Związki Zawodowe Wybrzeża (Free Trade Unions of the Coastal Region). In 1980 he organized a strike for the inter-company strike committee of the opposition union Solidarność at the Elmor plant, after which he was deputy chairman of the trade union leadership in the Gdansk region and member of the nationwide commission for understanding with the government and took part in numerous negotiations with government representatives.

When martial law was imposed on December 13, 1981, he escaped internment, went underground and organized the underground structures of Solidarność in the Gdansk region. In April 1982 he was co-organizer of the nationwide Provisional Coordination Commission for Underground Solidarność and was responsible for coordinating cooperation with foreign countries. He was arrested in June 1984 on charges of treason and released after six months on an amnesty . He was arrested again in February 1985, sentenced to two and a half years in prison, and again released on amnesty in September 1986. In 1986 he became a member of the Provisional Council of Solidarność and a year later he joined the state executive commission of the union, which is no longer active in the underground.

After 1988 he was a member of the Solidarność Citizens' Committee and took part in the round table talks. From 1989 to 1991 he sat in the Senate of the 1st electoral term. At the second state party congress of Solidarność in 1990 he was elected to the presidium of the state commission and was responsible for contacts with foreign countries. After 1991 he no longer took part in public life at the state level and was active in business.

Since 1997 he has been a member of the Unia Wolności (Freedom Union - UW). From 1998 to 2002 he was a member of the Sejmik of the Pomeranian Voivodeship . In June 2003 he became a member of the board of directors of the UW, then of the Partia Demokratyczna - demokraci.pl (Democratic Party - PD). In the parliamentary elections in 2001 and 2005 , he ran unsuccessfully for the Sejm.

On August 31, 2006 he was awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta by President Lech Kaczyński .

In the parliamentary elections in 2007 he was elected to the Sejm for the constituency of Danzig with 12,468 votes on the list of Lewica i Demokraci (Left and Democrats - LiD). He was a member of the Sejm commission for culture and media, until October 2008 he was deputy chairman of the commission for education, science and youth.

On April 9, 2008 he was a co-founder of the Democratic Group.

In the 2011 parliamentary elections , his candidacy for a seat in the Senate was unsuccessful.
