Bogovinje ( Macedonian Боговиње , Albanian  Bogovina / Bogovinë ) is a village and the official seat of the Opština of the same name in western Macedonia .

Bogovinje is located at an altitude of 550  m. i. J. on the western edge of the Polog plain . It is about halfway between the cities of Tetovo in the north and Gostivar in the south.

population

According to the 2002 census, the municipality of Bogovinje has 28,997 inhabitants, of which 27,614 (95.2%) are Albanians , 1183 (4.1%) Turks , 37 (0.1%) ethnic Macedonians and 163 (0.6%) are members other ethnic groups.

In the actual place Bogovinje lived 6,328 people, including 6,273 (99.13%) Albanians.

politics

Mayor of the Opština was Hazbi Idrizi since 2010. According to the assassination attempt on Hazbi Idrizi in 2017, the village still has no mayor in office.

The Opština Council consists of 19 members elected for a term of four years.

The official languages ​​in the Opština are Macedonian and Albanian .
