Oil rig type KMAR CS 30

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The KMAR CS 30 drilling platform is a semi- submersible , self-positioning drilling platform for exploration and development drilling and the maintenance of existing drilling sites on the Norwegian continental shelf . The drilling platform can be used worldwide and operate in water depths of up to 500 m. With the appropriate additional equipment, it can also be operated in water up to 8500 m deep. Six swivels 360 ° and 600 kN depending thrust payable azimuth - Thruster provide means of digital GPS Control (DP) for accurate, automatic positioning of the drilling platform.

This oil rig is the first to have been built in Germany for almost 20 years. The Kvaerner Warnow Werft GmbH shipyard began the flame cutting on October 4, 1999. The keel was laid on July 3, 2000, and the undocking took place on January 20, 2001. The rig was delivered on August 18, 2001. The rig was christened Stena Don .

The construction and the overpass required modern technologies due to the size of the platform. Because of the smaller width of the building dock, the platform was only built "on one leg". During undocking, the barge Bobarge 20 was chartered, which was maneuvered half-submerged under the oil rig and, after floating up in the dock, raised the oil rig and held it stable. Arrived at the equipment pier, the second pontoon was installed. The overpass also turned out to be interesting. Due to its height, the Øresund could not be crossed because the bridge was too low. So the Drogden Canal near Copenhagen had to be passed. This worked, but because of the draft, only without the thrusters, which were mounted underwater after the arrival in Bergen, Norway.

Today the drilling platform has withstood winds of up to 185 km / h and is working in the North Sea.
