Drogden is the name of the fairway between Amager and Saltholm to the east of the southern tip of Amager. It is also known as Drogden Sound , Drogden Enge or Drogden Rinne.

To the north, the Drogden-Enge merges into the Svælget fairway , and to the south into the Middelgrunden fairway and the Middelgrundens Vindmøllepark wind farm, which divides the river between Hollænderdybet (German: Holländeriefe) in the direction of the northeast and Kongedybet (German: Königstiefe) of the runs west around the bank. The name Drogden has an old Dutch origin and refers to the depths running in circles.

In the eastern part of Drogden Sound south of Saltholm, the artificial island of Peberholm was created in 1995 as part of the construction of the Øresund connection (Danish: Øresundsforbindelsen). The Drogden Sound was crossed by a tunnel ( Øresund tunnel ). Traffic from the tunnel continues on Peberholm with the Öresund Bridge (a high bridge) over the Öresund.

When planning the Øresund connection, the combination of tunnel-island-bridge was used to enable ships with high superstructures to continue to pass through the Øresund . Instead of crossing the Øresund Bridge, these ships pass through Drogden Sound, nine kilometers long and eight meters deep. For safety reasons, the air traffic control of the nearby Copenhagen-Kastrup airport will close a runway if ships are announced in Drogden-Sound with a height of more than 30 meters, because the approach path of the aircraft is very low over the water of the sound. A good example of the forward-looking planning by the Danish shipping authority DMA was the transfer of the SY A with its three almost 100 meter high masts from the Baltic Sea through the Drogden as the only remaining route at the beginning of February 2017.

There are two beacons in the Drogden Narrows to aid navigation . To the east of the southern tip of Amager is the Drogden Fyr lighthouse , built between 1935 and 1937. In the north is the lighthouse Nordre Røse Fyr .
