Drogden Fyr is a lighthouse in Denmark and was inaugurated in 1937 as a caisson foundation with a 13 meter high tower and ancillary buildings in the Øresund strait between Zealand (Denmark) and Sweden. The construction according to a design by Christian Bjørn Petersen lasted 21 months from September 21, 1935 to June 12, 1937. The location between Amager and Saltholm at the southern entrance to Öresund about five kilometers (three nautical miles ) south-east of Dragør was chosen . Denmark's second oldest lightship station (Drogden Fyrskib) has been operated here since 1838 . The tower stands in the open water and can only be reached by ship.
Drogden Fyr is a large rectangular lighthouse with red and white horizontal stripes and a gallery on the lantern. The structure has two floors in the basement, a deck level as well as two upper floors and a lantern in the top of the tower. The double-height engine room is the largest room in the basement. The tower stands on an elliptical stone foundation. The lighthouse Drogden Fyr was equipped with all navigation aids for the passing shipping. A supertyphone ( fog horn ) that was still in place and has since been shut down was used as an acoustic warning in fog.
The tower, which is still manned, is so close to the busy Oresund shipping route that it is sometimes seen as an obstacle. Demolishing the lighthouse was discussed again and again. The lighthouse is not accessible to private individuals.
The Drogden Fyr radar beacon has a range of 40 nautical miles.
Nordre Røse Fyr , north of the entrance to Drogden Sound , is remote-controlled from Drogden Fyr.
