Bohumil Gregor

Bohumil Gregor (born July 14, 1926 in Prague ; † November 4, 2005 there ) was a Czech conductor .

Life

Gregor studied double bass at the Prague Conservatory . He made his debut on October 26, 1947 at the May 5th Theater (now the Prague State Opera ).

Gregor directed performances at the State Theater in Brno (1949–1951), at the National Theater in Prague (1955–1958 and 1962–1966), at the Moravian-Silesian National Theater in Ostrava (1958–1962), at the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm (1966–1969) , the Hamburg State Opera (1969–1972), the Nederlandse Opera in Amsterdam (from 1972) and in San Francisco, Philadelphia and Washington. In 1999 he returned to the Prague State Opera, where he worked as music director until 2002.

Gregor had last conducted The Cunning Little Vixen in his hometown .
