Bojidar Andonov

Bojidar Andonov (born March 17, 1954 in Vetren ) is an Orthodox theologian and lecturer at the University of Munich .

Life

Andonov attended the orthodox seminary in Sofia after primary school in Septemwri , where he graduated from high school in 1974. After two years of military service, he studied theology at the Orthodox Spiritual Academy in Sofia from 1976 to 1980 with a diploma. He then taught homiletics and catechetics at the seminary until 1986 , headed the synodal publishing house of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church (1986–1988) and taught homiletics and catechetics at the seminary (1989–1991) in Sofia.

From 1991 to 1992 he completed a study visit at the Eastern Church Institute in Regensburg with a scholarship from the German Bishops' Conference as well as further training in religious education at the University of Eichstätt (1992-1993) with observation at high schools. From 1993 to 1995 he was assistant at the chair for homiletics and religious education at the Orthodox Theological Faculty of the University of Sofia (Ivan Denev) and at the same time teacher for homiletics and catechetics at the seminary. From 1995 he completed a doctoral degree at the theological faculty in Eichstätt with Engelbert Groß and received his doctorate in 2000. This was followed by studies at the Institute for Orthodox Theology in Munich until 2004. He began his habilitation thesis with Ehrenfried Schulz at the Catholic Faculty of the Ludwig Maximilians University .

Since 2001 he has been a member of the Committee for Religious Education at the Bulgarian Ministry of Education in Sofia. He was visiting professor for religious education at the Theological Faculty of the University of Sofia (2001-2006) and has been a member of the Bulgarian Orthodox Diocese of Western and Central Europe since 2004 as a speaker for religious education, church-orthodox education and culture.

After his habilitation at the Faculty of Theology of the University of Sofia in 2006, he was appointed to the Chair of Pedagogy / Catechetics and Homiletics and since May 2007 has been the head of the Department of Systematic and Practical Theology. In September 2008 he also took over the master's degree in "Religion and Education".
