Bolesław Cardinal Filipiak (born September 1, 1901 in Osniszczewko , Poland , † October 14, 1978 in Posen ) was a cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church .

Life

Filipiak studied in Poznan and Rome trays Catholic theology and philosophy . He received on 29 May 1926, the sacrament of Holy Orders , and then worked as a parish pastor in the Archdiocese of Gniezno . After further studies, in 1933 he became the personal secretary of the Archbishop of Gniezno, Cardinal August Hlond . From 1944 to 1945 he was held in German captivity. In 1945 Bolesław Filipiak became a cathedral canon and a member of the Diocesan Court in Gniezno. In addition, he was an expert on questions of marriage law in the service of the Holy See. From 1947 he worked at the Roman Court of Justice , which he headed as dean from 1967. In 1975 he became President of the Court of Appeal in the Vatican State .

On May 1, 1976, Pope Paul VI appointed him . as titular bishop of Plestia . The episcopal ordination received Bolesław Filipiak on 14 May 1976 by Cardinal Pericle Felici ; Co- consecrators were Antoni Baraniak , Archbishop of Poznan , and Andrzej Maria Deskur , President of the Pontifical Council for Social Communications . On May 24, 1976, the Pope accepted him as a cardinal deacon with the title deaconry San Giovanni Bosco in via Tuscolana in the college of cardinals .

Bolesław Filipiak died on October 14, 1978 in Poznan and was buried in the local cathedral .
