Oreste Cardinal Giorgi (born May 19, 1856 in Valmontone , Province of Rome , Italy , † December 30, 1924 in Rome ) was a Curia Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church .

Life

Oreste Giorgi received his philosophical and theological training in the Pontifical Roman Seminary . He received on 21 December 1878, the sacrament of the priesthood and worked in Rome as a lecturer in the formation of priests. From 1889 he took on tasks in various departments of the curia . In 1903 he became canon of the Lateran basilica , papal house prelate and apostolic protonotary . In 1907 Pope Pius X appointed him Undersecretary of the Congregation for Bishops , and in 1908 he was Secretary of the Council Congregation. Pope Benedict XV Oreste Giorgi accepted on December 4, 1916 as a cardinal deacon with the title deaconry Santa Maria in Cosmedin in the cardinals college.

Oreste Cardinal Giorgi participated in the conclave of 1922 . In 1923 he was elevated to cardinal priest while retaining his titular church . In 1924 Pope Pius XI appointed him . the titular Archbishop of Ancyra and he donated the episcopal ordination ; Co-consecrators were Archbishop Carlo Cremonesi , Almsman of His Holiness , and Archbishop Agostino Zampini OSA , Sacristan of His Holiness . In the same year Oreste Cardinal Giorgi consecrated two churches in the Holy Land as a papal legate .

He died in Rome on December 30, 1924 and was buried in his hometown of Valmontone.
