Bolesław VI. The Pious from Wielkopolska Kalish (Polish: Bolesław Pobożny , * 1224/27 ; † April 13/14, 1279 in Kalisz ) was the son of Władysław Odonic from the dynasty of the Wielkopolska Piasts , Duke of Greater Poland in Kalisz, in Posen and Gniezno and Jadwiga von Pommerellen (Hedwig von Pommerellen ) from the Samboriden family.

Life

Bolesław married in 1257 Jolanta Helena, Princess of Hungary (Jolanta of Poland) from the noble family of Árpáden , daughter of King Béla IV of Hungary . They had three children, Jadwiga von Kalisz ( Jadwiga Kaliska , Hedwig von Kalisch), Elisabeth von Kalisch and Anna Bolesławówna, who spent their lives in the monastery. Boleslaw VI. the pious is buried in the Poznan Cathedral (Archbishop St. Peter and Paul Cathedral in Poznan).

Boleslav VI. The Pious was Duke of Greater Poland from 1239 to 1247, Duke of Kalisz from 1247 to 1249, Duke of Gniezno from 1249 to 1250, Duke of Gniezno-Kalisz from 1253 to 1257, Duke of Greater Poland and Poznan from 1257 to 1273, Regent of the Duchies of Mazovia from 1262 to 1264 , Płock and Czersk , rulers of Bydgoszcz from 1268 to 1273 , Duke of Wrocław from 1271 to 1273 and from 1273 Duke of Gniezno-Kalisz until his death.

He issued the statute of Kalisch on September 8, 1264 . The statute defined the position of the Jews in Poland and laid the basis for their relatively autonomous existence, which lasted until 1795. The statute threatened , among other things, penalties for desecrating Jewish cemeteries and synagogues . The statute contained provisions on the punishment of those who accused Jews of ritual murder . It regulated the principles of trade by the Jews and assured them the inviolability of life and property.
