A Bolotie (also bolo Tie , cowboy tie , Western ties or laces Tie ) is a type of tie , consisting of a piece of string is to be held together by a decorative brooch or clip. It was designed by Victor E. Cedarstaff in Wickenburg, Arizona , and a patent pending in 1954 .

In the USA this necklace is also called a bola tie and is worn with cowboy and western clothing. In England , this type of tie was popularized by the Teddy Boys as Bootlace Ties in the 1950s . In 1971 the bolo tie was the official Arizona necklace. When Western riding it belongs to the equipment of the rider, and the square dance is a popular accessory .

Executions

A bolo tie consists of a mostly 4-fold braided leather cord , the ends of which are closed and decorated with metal tips, usually made of silver . The brooch itself is the actual work of art. It is also mostly made of silver, sometimes also of copper or bronze . The metal parts are cast or soldered from sheet metal and wire and lavishly decorated. Here are semi-precious stones , mainly lapis lazuli and turquoise , as well as coral , animal teeth, such as the wolf or bear, or used bones. The metal is sometimes chiselled , pressed, punched or etched .
