history

Already in Roman times there was a simple mill on the site of what is today, the remains of which were found during construction in 1836.

Today's mill, the exact date of its construction is not known, was owned by the Wadgassen Monastery from 1136 to 1792 , which it leased to various millers . When the clergy was expropriated in the course of the French Revolution ( secularization ), the Bommersbacher Mühle and the courtyard belonging to it were auctioned . In this way it came into the possession of the married couple Anton Louis and Maria Reuter from Bisten in 1792 . Their descendants are still the owners of the mill today.

The last miller at the Bommersbacher Mühle was Johann Benedikt Louis (1905–1995), who stopped the mill in the 1960s. His grandson, Stefan Louis, who has been mayor of Bous since 2005 , now lives in the mill with his family.
