The Bondesche Palais (Swedish Bondeska palatset ) is a building in the old town of Stockholm , which was built between 1662 and 1673 for the imperial treasurer Gustaf Bonde .

The designs came from the architects Nicodemus Tessin the Elder. Ä. and Jean de la Vallée . The palace has the basic shape of an "H" and the northern side wings facing the water enclose a small baroque garden . The main building originally had a copper roof, but this was destroyed in a fire in 1710. When the economic situation of the Bonde family worsened, they were forced to first rent out part of the palace and then sell it. In the following period a court and the royal library were housed here.

In 1730 the city of Stockholm bought the palace and used it as a town hall for the next 200 years . After another fire in 1753, the palace took on the appearance that you can still find today. Much has been changed, especially inside. Of the original interior furnishings, the vault of the cellar, various doors and ceilings in the entrance area and the Imperial Treasurer's writing room still exist.

Around 1940 the palace became state property and is now used by the Swedish Supreme Court . The building has had the status of a Byggnadsminne since 1949 and also houses various art treasures from the National Museum .
