Bonn summer theater was a common, ironic expression in the Bonn Republic of the 1980s for the politically secondary events and discussions that took place during the parliamentary summer break in Bonn .
The term referred to the annually recurring situation that the members of the Federal Government and the leaders of the parties during the eight to ten-week summer break majority Bonn left for vacation and the remaining, less significant federal policy work in an abandoned otherwise by almost all politicians federal capital backbenchers who were often jokingly referred to as stable guards because of this function .
