Bonnschlade is a district in the Heidkamp district of Bergisch Gladbach .
history
The name Bonnschlade emerged from the old settlement name Bornsladen , which was first mentioned in 1595. The Bonnschlade settlement was called Bonschlader Gut in the 18th century . This should characterize that it would lie on particularly “sandy, poor soil” . In the 19th century, the original farm was transformed into a hamlet with 79 residents. In 1905 it had grown to 16 residential buildings with 92 residents.
etymology
The early modern spelling Bonnschlade shows that the defining word Bonn must be set synonymously with Born (= source). The basic word Schlade denotes a narrow valley or a mountain gorge in field names. Bonnschlade consequently means a damp and water-rich valley.
