Borel is a small impact crater in the southeastern part of the Mare Serenitatis . Located southwest of Le Monnier Crater, it was known as Le Monnier C before it was renamed by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) in 1976 . It shows an almost round, bowl-shaped structure with internal planes that slope towards the center of the crater. The inside has a higher albedo than the surrounding dark mare .
